Live a Good Life

Stoicism is a philosophy that originated in ancient Greece and later gained popularity in the Roman Empire. Stoicism is primarily concerned with the attainment of eudaimonia, which can be translated as "flourishing" or "the good life." According to Stoic philosophy, eudaimonia is not dependent on external circumstances or material possessions but is instead achieved through inner virtue and living in accordance with reason and nature.

Central to Stoicism is the idea that we have control over our own thoughts, attitudes, and judgments, while external events are largely beyond our control. Stoics believe that true happiness and fulfilment come from developing wisdom, practicing self-discipline, and cultivating virtues such as courage, justice, moderation, and wisdom.

Stoicism encourages you to accept the natural order of the universe and embrace whatever happens, including adversity and misfortune, as an opportunity for personal growth and self-improvement. It teaches the importance of focusing on what is within your control, namely your own attitudes and actions, and letting go of attachment to outcomes beyond your influence.

Stoics advocate living in the present moment, maintaining a calm and rational mindset, and recognising the transitory nature of external circumstances. By practicing self-control, resilience, and moral virtue, Stoics aim to achieve inner tranquillity and live a meaningful and virtuous life, regardless of external circumstances.

Practicing Stoicism requires study, personal reflection, and self-discipline. There are a wide range of resources available, from books, both ancient texts modern, to websites, blogs, YouTube channels, conferences, groups, and courses available to help guide you along your journey.
